Economic Principles And Decision Making Bureau of Economic Research

Question: Talk about the Economic Principles And Decision Making for Bureau of Economic Research. Answer: Presentation This specific report has essentially tended to the financial parts of market winning in the Australian economy with an away from of work advertise custom in life just as society. A reasonable depiction with respect to the market variety among the diverse application in regards to the system has been depicted in this specific report. Quantifiable conversation with respect to the general conventions considering the gracefully just as request has been produced in order to comprehend the monetary determination. The parts of considering the relapse investigation have essentially tended to the general impression of the market that has improved the intelligent motivation behind deciding the complete gainfulness. In this manner, the definition of proceeding with the tasks has produced through the idea in conveying the use of building up the structure of the market. Hence, the thought of making a decision about the income of the Australian economy an insignificant relapse examination has been determined. For this situation the critical attributes are produced to evaluate the practicality of the ostensible just as the genuine wages all together survey the interrelationship with the other economy that are communicating their reality for making sure about better methodology on the planet economy. Conversation upon conventional gracefully and request The likelihood that expenses are poor in some way or another on intrigue and gracefully is uncommonly old. Much sooner than the headway of theoretical money related perspectives, it was understood that a significant flexibly would realize a fall in cost and a huge premium would achieve a climb in cost. A not too bad plan of fiscal speculation turns around the brightening and estimation of this essential idea. Adam Smith perceived correctly among intrigue and hunger for and portrayed reasonable solicitation essentially as the sum that would be gained at a given expense. If the expense in the business area were over the standard expense for a given item, there would be strange rousing powers to make this thing and set up it for offering to general society, and the sum offered accessible to be bought would increase (Kennedy, et al., 2014). If the total going onto the business segment was greater than the feasible intrigue, that is, the aggregate expelled the business area, the expense would fall. In like manner, if the expense in the business area were underneath the typical expense, there would be a diminished inspiring power to make the thing and offered to the separate open so as to dodge business for rotting, and if this were not actually the reasonable intrigue, the expense would rise. A huge piece of the improvement of the speculation of intrigue and gracefully since Adam Smith can be seen as a light and elaboration of the fundamental guideline that he verbalized. Limits and curves The accompanying genuine improvement in the speculation of intrigue and flexibly was the progression of intrigue and gracefully limits and twists, related basically with the name of Alfred Marshall, regardless of the way that a Scottish monetary expert, Fleming Jenkin, is commonly credited with the essential arrangement of these thoughts. In its most clear structure the intrigue limit is a limit relating the sum mentioned to the expense of the product. The flexibly work correspondingly relates the sum provided to the expense. Exactly when simply these two factors are incorporated, the limits can be conveyed as intrigue and gracefully twists in a two-dimensional graph, as in Diagram 1. The measure of the item mentioned or provided is estimated along the level center point and the expense is estimated along the vertical turn. DD' is the intrigue twist; SS' is the flexibly twist. Chart 1 exhibits the most average kinds of these curves. Because of enthusiasm, there is some worth OD at which nothing will be bought in any way shape or form. At a zero worth, a constrained sum OD' will be bought; this addresses the purpose of satiation. The gracefully twist is drawn so that there is some worth OS underneath which nothing will be offered or more, which, as the worth ascents, a greater sum will be provided (Austin, et al., 2014). For certain reasons it is favorable to depict the intrigue and flexibly twists with respect to parameters, that is, a plan of numbers that is satisfactory to perceive each point on them. The least troublesome assumption is that of linearity, that is destined to be, that the intrigue and gracefully twists are straight lines. For this circumstance, the conditions may be formed: (1) qd= d + edpd, (2) qs= s + esps, where qa is the sum mentioned, q3 is the sum provided, pd is the expense at which each sum is mentioned, and p3 is the expense at which each sum is provided. Each twist or limit would then be able to be delineated by only two parameters. Because of intrigue, d gauges the angles that can be known as the parts of the intrigue and is proportionate to OD in Diagram 1; ed may be known as the complete adaptability of intrigue, which in Diagram 1 is negative. It measures the incomparable change in the sum mentioned, which would come about in view of a unit change in the expense. In Diagram 1 the inclination or the slant of the curve DD whenever is the inelasticity, l/ed. Correspondingly the parameter s, proportionate to OS in Diagram 1, is a proportion of the height or level of the flexibly. The parameter 1/es are the altogether adaptability of gracefully, which gauges the modification in the sum provided for each unit change in the expense. Again, l/es address the slope of the twist SS. Adaptability The term adaptability was brought into fiscal examination by Alfred Marshall, the similitude being the flexibility of a spring. In an adaptable spring, a given addition in the weight applied produces a significant augmentation in the length of the spring; correspondingly, if either solicitation or flexibly is flexible, a given addition in the cost makes an extensive augmentation in the sum mentioned or provided. Another name that might be given to this thought is responsiveness, the sum mentioned or provided being considered as responding essentially enthusiastically to a modification in the expense. Marshall himself didn't use the absolute adaptability thought yet rather a thought of relative flexibility, portrayed as the proportionate change in sum isolated by the proportionate change in the expense, or: (3) = dq/q dp It clearly did this since it is a dimensionless parameter, that is, a number that is free with respect to the general units as indicated by which the absolute expense has been estimated. An intrigue or flexibly twist of predictable relative adaptability would be a straight line on twofold logarithmic paper. There is no inspiration to expect to be sure, regardless, that these limits will most likely be logarithmic than direct in out and out terms, and for certain reasons the preeminent thoughts are perfect. A logarithmic technique has chosen straight solicitation twist with consistent relative adaptability, for event, would not meet either center point in Diagram 1, proposing that the expense would should be boundless before cutting off purchases for the most part and that at a zero worth an immense sum would be taken. This clearly is senseless. For all intents and purposes, multiple parameters are consistently expected to delineate solicitation and gracefully limits, yet there are on ly a few issues where the departure from linearity seems to have monetary significance. Regardless, it is reasonable to accept that there are unavoidable obstacles on extending the sum provided that can't be overwhelmed by a climb in esteem, with the goal that the gracefully twist will end up being less flexible at significant expenses, as in Diagram 1. It is possible similarly that a relative condition applies to ask for. The most effortless condition that can be used to communicate this condition is a quadratic structure. The equalization position of the course of action of Diagram 1 is believed to be the point P, where the intrigue and flexibly twists meet, and where PN is the parity cost and ON is the agreement sum. Any equalization, regardless, must be viewed as an uncommon occurrence of a unique structure, and for this circumstance, there are no under two particular component systems that have this reason for amicability. The at first, related particularly with Adam Smith and Alfred Marshall, is that where the qualification between the intrigue cost and the flexibly esteem, inciting changes in sum provided, is the essential prodding segment of the dynamic system. The intrigue cost of a given sum is that cost at which the sum can be sold in the business area; along these lines a point on the intrigue twist, for instance, D1, shows that the sum OQ1 can be sold at the worth Q1P1 . The flexibly cost is the worth that will call forward a particular sum. Consequently, if S1 is a point on the gracefully twist, Q1S1 is the worth that could call forward an aggregate OQ1. If then the sum coming to showcase is OQ1, when the intrigue cost is in wealth of the gracefully cost by an entirety D1S1, this suggests the genuine and authentic expense got by the merchants, Q1D1, is more conspicuous than the worth that would convince them to convey the sum included, Q1S1. They are thus tolerating over the top returns, and the assumption is that this will move them to become the sum offered accessible to be bought, as appeared by the jolt Al. Along these lines, if the sum proceeding the business segment is OQ2, which is greater than the amicability sum ON, the premium worth, which is the genuine worth got, will be underneath the flexibly esteem; the providers will get not actually is imperative to persuade them to put this sum accessible, and the entirety coming to market will diminish. In the conditions of Diagram 1 clearly P is a consistent parity, for if the sum is underneath ON it will augment; if it is above ON it will diminish. Th

Skin Cancer Essays (1167 words) - Medicine, Clinical Medicine

Skin Cancer Skin Cancer Around a million americans will create skin disease this year. Skin disease is the most pervasive everything being equal, and it's undeniably on the ascent. There are a large number of modest cells that make up the human body. There are various types of cells, however they all make new cells by a procedure that includes isolating down the middle. This is the manner by which old cells are supplanted with solid new cells. At the point when a cells isolates and doesn't carry out the responsibility that it was proposed to accomplish for the body, and afterward it proceeds to separation and makes a greater amount of these futile cells, and these cells keep on gather, it is known as a tumor. There are two sorts of tumors: kind and threatening. The cells in a considerate tumor can swarm out sound cells, despite the fact that they can not spread to other, also, more advantageous, portions of the body (Ingraham 447). Notwithstanding, a threatening tumor is disease. A harmful tumor can likewise swarm out the solid cells around it, however notwithstanding thatt it can spread to different pieces of the body and assume control over the solid cells in various zones of the body. Skin malignant growth is a sickness wherein disease cells are found in the external layers of skin. The skin has two primary layers and a few sorts of cells. The top layer is the epidermis and the layer is shed most oftentimes. The inward layer is called the dermis and is thicker and contains veins, nerves, hair follicles what's more, sweat organs (Seely Stephens Tate 145). Malignant growth spreads by a gathering of cells or a solitary cell that splits from the tumor and moves to different pieces of the body. Once there, it'll gap and start tumors, made of harmful cells, similar to the ones that frantic up the principal tumor (Ingraham 447). At the point when this happens it is called metastic malignant growth. Metastatic malignant growth is characterized as the exchange of sickness starting with one piece of the body then onto the next, as in specific sorts of malignancy (Funk and Wagnalls Dictionary 408.) . With numerous malignant growths, the typical initial phase in avoidance is that the influenced body part is evacuated. Be that as it may, since a people skin can't be expelled, completely, this presents even more an issue to doctors. Skin malignant growth is to some degree reparable when analyzed and treated early. Also, its to some degree preventable by keeping away from sun and tanning bed introduction. Sunscreen is a basic, simple, and advantageous fake resistance against skin malignant growth. There are three fundamental sorts of skin malignancy. Melanoma is the least normal, in any case, most genuine on the grounds that this sort is answerable for in any event three fourths of the skin malignant growth passings every year (Encarta reference book, cdrom). Different kinds of skin malignant growth are basal cell and squamous cell tumors. These two are alluded to as non-melanoma skin tumors. Another uncommon kind of skin malignant growth, known as Kaposi's sarcoma, is once in a while observed (Barnes-Savarney, 177). The most widely recognized sort of skin disease is basal cell skin malignant growth. In any case, Melonoma is the quickest developing sort of disease, influencing around 32,000 americans in 1993 (Encarta Encyclopedi, cdrom). Melanoma is activated by bright beams from the sun and is motioned by the development or presence of an sporadic mole on the skin. The mole might be analyzed dependent on its size, shape, shading, or surface, or because of its delicacy or hardness. Creating skin disease is a two stage process. It includes commencement and advancement of harmful development. Since the bright beams hurt the instrument for fixing cell harm, one the fix framework is disabled, cells become progressively helpless against injury. Ensuing bright presentation aggravate it, what's more, can inititate harm. After bright introduction, the fix system in the body, ordinarily guides harmed cells to end it all. This is the clarification for why skin strips after sun tanning and sun consumes. Be that as it may, recently harmed cells with a breaking down fix framework get away from this procedure. Hereditary harm aggregates as ordinary cells pass on and unusual ones endure. It's been resolved that skin doesn't need to be scorched to be harmed, and such harm aggregates with interminable, regular introduction (Encarta cdrom). There are two kinds of bright radiation that arrive at the earth: bright A what's more, bright B. Both add to skin harm, and

Competency, Alliance Building, and Character

â€Å"Competency† is in fact characterized as â€Å"the practices that workers must have or should acquire to include into a circumstance to have the option to finish significant levels of performance† (Le Deist et. al., 2005). â€Å"Alliance Building†, then again, is actually characterized as â€Å"the capacity to work with different individuals from the workforce† (Competency.., n.d.). Clarifying further, a representative ought to have the option to: 1) display capacities inside the gathering; 2) regard or worth other co-representatives or collaborators despite social and individual contrasts; 3) expect assortment of undertakings and capacities while working with others; 4) tune in, contribute thoughts, show imaginativeness, recognize other peoples’ inputs/association/commitment; 5) distinguish and depict bunch duties; 6) acknowledge valuable reactions; 7) recognize conflict;8) use â€Å"conflict the executives skills† including: ID of cont ention, knowing the issues, contemplating other employees’ perspectives, considering arrangements, conceptualizing the outcomes, clarifying the goals procedure fitting to the activity, support of the choice chose, use of the decision picked, just as, thinking about the outcome/impact; 9) and so forth (Competency.., n.d.). â€Å"Character†, in any case, in fact alludes to â€Å"the positive attributes that a worker ought to have to have the option to complete their undertaking and capacities excellently† (Competency.., n.d.). These positive attributes incorporate the accompanying: 1) certainty; 2) eagerness to acknowledge duties; 3) ability of working everything being equal; 4) capacity to create extraordinary convictions thusly mirroring an amazing character; 5) ability to relate with different representatives who â€Å"show indications of character†; 6) trustworthiness; 7) resilience; 8) knowledge; 9) â€Å"selfless service†; 10) persevering; 11) worried about others and not simply oneself (Tartaglia, 1999).â€Å"Competency†, â€Å"alliance building†, just as, â€Å"character† contribute to a great extent to progress (Tartaglia, 1999). All the previously mentioned are required all together for an individual to prevail in some random undertaking (Tartaglia, 1999). Let us take for example, in the working environment, explicitly in an eatery, a worker ought to have competency with the goal that the individual in question will have the option to perform at their best (Tartaglia, 1999). The person in question ought to consistently endeavor to cook and serve the best dishes (Tartaglia, 1999). Moreover, collusion building ought to likewise be remembered for his jargon, in such a case that for example, the person feels that the individual is in every case right or faults/despises others, the individual is fretful or narrow minded, the individual in question is a critic, at that point the individual doesn't have the ability to work with others (Tartaglia, 1999).In expansion to that, in the event that the person in question has pardon for each slip-up or disappointment the person in question submits, at that point the individual doesn't have the â€Å"character† to make it or to prevail in their picked try (Tartaglia, 1999). Thus, in the event that the individual is untrustworthy, just as, in the event that the person in question is reluctant to go the additional mile to serve others, for example, he is just ready to work during their calendar and doesn't intentionally help other people particularly in the event that the person feels that their work is as of now accomplished for the afternoon, at that point the person doesn't have the â€Å"character† expected to prevail in their picked vocation (Tartaglia, 1999).Another field where â€Å"competency†, â€Å"alliance building†, and â€Å"character† is required is in the â€Å"Research Consultancy Firm† (Tartaglia, 1999). Here analysts ought to have competency to perform quite well; this in not exclusively to keep their occupations however to be advanced too (Tartaglia, 1999). They ought to have the option to fulfill their customers with their examination works, in this way competency is truly required (Tartaglia, 1999). Union structure is likewise significant in the Research Consultancy Firm, for example, the analysts need analysts to do factual investigation for them to have the option to finish their exploration works so they truly should be adaptable enough to work with others (Tartaglia, 1999). To wrap things up, doing research takes a great deal of time, vitality, and persistence, along these lines â€Å"character† is required so as to prevail in it (Tartaglia, 1999). Additionally, since fulfillment of customers is significant in this field, it is significant that analysts figure out how to acknowledge valuable reactions, negative criticism, and incredible comprehens ion to have the option to improve, if not great, their work (Tartaglia, 1999).ReferencesCIPD. Essay on Hollywood Movie Rating System

Essay on Hollywood Movie Rating System The Movie Rating System Any medium such as radio, television, newspapers and magazines is used by the government in its own interests. Hollywood movies are no exception, which has a great impact on population due to their popularity among Americans. The first reason to support my idea is that the Presidential Administration and the Pentagon strongly intensify their engagement with the bosses of the film industry and the largest U.S. producers, asking for their help in the propagation of American patriotism and mobilizing the whole nation to fight with Americas enemies. The examples of such cooperation were the movies such as Saving Private Ryan (brought $216 million), Pearl Harbor ($198 million), Black Hawk Down ($108 million), â€Å"We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson ($79 million), All the Fears of the World ($ 97 million), etc. The second reason to support my opinion is the fact that in order to distract public attention from the sex scandal involving U.S. President Bill Clinton, the adviser for emergency situations, Conrad Breen, was urgently called and asked to take action. Breen, in turn, called a well-known Hollywood producer Stanley Motss. Together they made a film on a grand Hollywood scale. Stanley Motss could not miss this rare chance to satisfy his ambitions and the movie Wag the Dog ($64 million) came out. Therefore, from the examples above I conclude that any American film director or producer, if he really wants to make an entertaining and profitable film, is forced to ask the Pentagon or other serious authority for assistance. In exchange for their services, these authorities demand the right to make adjustments in the film production and even censorship of the script.

OMB A-133 OMB Circular A-133 is a huge intensive United States federal government guide which is created by the Office of Management and Budget. It establishes requirements for audits of States, local governments, and Indian tribal governments which manage Federal financial assistance programs and Federal grant programs. In 1985, OMB Circular A-128, â€Å"Audits of States and Local Governments† was issued by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Then, in 1990, OMB Circular A-133, â€Å"Audits of Institutions Of Higher Education and Other Non-Profit Organizations†, was issued to extend the process of the single audit to nonprofit organizations. Without the Supplement, it will ask auditors to spend a lot of time on researching laws and regulations for the audit requirements of each program that are essential to Federal Government’s regulations and have significant effects on the programs. Thus, using the Supplement of OMB Circular A-133 is a convenient and efficient way for auditors to perform audits on these programs. OMB Circular A-133 states that Federal agencies should annually inform any update of the Supplement to OMB. To inform the update, the Federal agencies must provide OMB with the current information of program objectives, procedures, compliance requirements and noncompliance requirements which are essential and necessary to the Federal programs. On the other hand, auditors should be aware of the periodical changes in the laws and regulations which might happen between the changes and revisions to the Supplement of OMB A-133. Analysis Of Tweens Ten Going On Sixteen - 1172 Words

In â€Å"Tweens: Ten Going on Sixteen,† Kay S. Hymowitz points out that in modern society kids mature too early, creating a negative trend called â€Å"tween phenomenon†; it occurs when kids become teenagers at a young age and skip preadolescence. According to Hymowitz, the evidence presents a troubling picture of tweens who are too concerned with their looks, are involved in criminal activities, are having sex, are doing drugs, and are consuming alcohol. She provides evidence to exemplify tweendom’s negative influence on both the tweens and the world around them. The author concludes that media, absentee parents, and peers are among the several complex causes of the negative trends of tweens. Although Hymowitz may sound excessively cynical, she states a reasonable case that should be considered by parents, educators, and psychologists. Without a doubt, the three most negative behavioral trends of many tweens are their need for attention, their peer group pressu re, and most importantly, their unawareness of the consequences for their irresponsible actions. The first negative trend in tweens is their need for attention because it often results in their becoming wayward. Their search for attention from overworked or inattentive parents, peers, and others on social networks has an adverse influence on their behavior. When tweens experience the lack of attention from parents, they may misbehave in many ways in order to attract the attention they crave. Feminist Reading of The Yellow Wallpaper - 2016 Words

A Feminist Reading of The Yellow Wallpaper In the late nineteenth century, after the American social and economic shift commonly referred to as the Industrial Revolution had changed the very fabric of American society, increased attention was paid to the psychological disorders that apparently had steamed up out of the new smokestacks and skyscrapers in urban populations (Bauer, 131). These disorders were presumed to have been born out of the exhaustion and wear and tear of industrial society (Bauer, 131-132). An obvious effect of these new disorders was a slew of physicians and psychiatrists advocating one sort of cure or another, although the rest cure popularized by the physician S. Weir Mitchell was the most†¦show more content†¦As a result, the illness of the woman in The Yellow Wallpaper ceased to represent an account of Gilmans own illness and became a representation of the illness that afflicted all women at the time: the illness of oppression. Before beginning to analyze The Yellow Wallpaper from a feminist viewpoint, one must consider first how women were perceived in late-nineteenth century America. A common knowledge of history reveals that they were legally and socially second class citizens, not even earning the right to vote until 1920. One of Gilmans chief complaints was that ...women had long been competing over men in a system of oppression that had its roots in a precapitalist culture. Only men could promise economic security in a world which would not employ women (Bauer, 132). In a world where men forced women to depend upon them in order to keep women in an inferior and powerless role, it is not surprising that so many women developed neurasthenia. In his short story Old Doc Rivers, William C. Williams explains neurasthenia as a label that arose where ...they never did discover what was the matter with the patient, perhaps because nothing really was the matter, only what happens to any person deprived of exercise, freedom, and the ability to think for ones self (Williams,Show MoreRelatedThe Yellow Wallpaper By Charlotte Perkins Gilman Essay1208 Words   |  5 Pagesthat wallpaper as I did?† the woman behind the pattern was an image of herself. Companies need to be vigilant of this and keep their prices competitive; not so low that they are no longer profitable and high enough that the products quality is recognized. Explain Steps in Organizational Changes Process free essay sample

There are four steps in organizational changes process. The management of change involves determining the needs for changes, determining the obstacles to change, implementing change, and evaluating change. Explaining steps in organizational change process are as follows: First, the organization may determine the needs for changes to make organization more responsive, flexible and competitive. Before the changing, the organization should find the gap between performance objectives and actual performance, and uses some indicators, which like total net profit, sales per employee, and labor costs, to measure the gap in order to decide whether the organization needs to change. Second, the organization need to identify the obstacles, which like resisting changes at organization, division or individual level, Unions resistance, the culture, strategies and structures of the organization, and financial ability, to introduce new policies and practices when the organization need to changes. For example, for the financial ability, HR manager expects to introduce new technology to make the organization more competitive. However, the organization doesn’t have enough subsidies to afford all staffs to learn new skills. Therefore, the organization should identify all potential barriers. Third, the organization should consider which methods to implement in the change to reduce the resistance from managers or employees. The organization can use internal managers or external consultants to carry out the changes. The internal managers have more knowledgeable about people and business operations, but the internal managers often are too narrow to successfully introduce change. Besides, the external consultants are politically neutral and possessing broader and have more knowledgeable viewpoints, but the external consultants do not know the organization and its staff. Therefore, the organization should measure which method is more suitable for the organization. Moreover, the organization should use Top-Down or Bottom-Up approach to implement the changes. The Top-Down approach which managers need to involve in decision and implementation, this approach emphasizes on speed and action. This approach shows the low-level staff just participates in the changes, but top-level managers are made decisions. The Bottom-Up approach which involves considerable discussion and consultation with managers and employees, it emphasizes participation, communication, and the minimizations of uncertainty. This approach makes the staff have more motivations and satisfactions. Therefore, the organization should choose which approach to implement the changes. Last, to measure the effectiveness of changes, the organization use some indicators, like employee productivity, job satisfaction, sales, to compare the before and after situations to analyze and control the outcome. For example, when the organization implemented the change, it can compare the sales this year and last year to evaluate the effectiveness of the change. Therefore, the organization can utilize different indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of the change. The organization should change regularly as the business environment is constantly changing. However, some of reasons why the employees sometimes resistant to change are followings: If I were a HR manager, I would handle this situation with different methods to help the employees. As a HR manager, I would communicate with the employees to reduce the influences of them. Some employees may resist changing because they feel incapable of performing well under the new way of doing things like using high technology, and they do not understanding what is happening or why. Therefore, I would communicate with them to reduce their resistances. As a HR manager, I would participate with the employees to attend some lessons or courses, which are provided by the organization. It is because some of them may feel work overload and loss of face when they faced the change. They may feel that they are physically or mentally unable to handle the change and feel uncomfortable. Thus, I would participate with them to support them to change. As a HR manager, I would organize some channels, which like meetings, memos, E-mails, and social network, to let the employees know why the organization needs to change in order to reduce their resistances and angers. In the channels, I would tell them the high technology only less skills required, the change can carry lower pay rate. So I would organize some channels to reduce their fear of the unknown. As a HR manager, I would negotiate with the organization to provide the counseling for the lay-off employees to lower negative emotions. Some of them may feel that their pay and benefits may be reduced or they may lose their job as the economic downturn. Thus, I would require the organization provide counseling to give them comfort. As a HR manager, I would negotiate with the organization providing rewards when the employees accepted some required. The organization needs to introduce some high technology as an example, if some of them, who accepted the requirement, may have opportunities to increase their pays or promotion. Therefore, I would utilize some rewards to attract them. Therefore, as a HR manager, I am not only monitoring organization’s environment, but also I should communicate with employees.

Original Marriage Polygamy free essay sample

Once referred to as the â€Å"original marriage† Polygamy is now an alternative lifestyle lived by many, but is it right? There are multiple countries around the world that believe that this is in fact an applicable way of living. The Origins of polygamy are extremely vast and are practiced all over the world. However, in the United States it is illegal, yet there are many knowing individuals who still partake in this style of living. It is reported that â€Å"there are 40,000 people living in polygamous families or communities across the Western region of the U. S† (Scharnberg Brachear, 2006).Should these people be prosecuted? Or are we as Americans pre judging a lifestyle that we know nothing about? In this paper, I will discuss what polygamy is, the controversies surrounding polygamy in the United States, and how polygamy emerged and extended through various cultures and religions globally. In addition, I will further explain if it is still practiced, and if so, is it accepted and acknowledged by their creed. Polygamy consists of three forms; they are polygyny, polyandry, and group marriage. Polygyny is the practice of having more than one wife at the same time. This was the original name for polygamy during the ninetieth century, it later became known as polygamy. The second form is polyandry which is the act of having many husbands at more than one time. Of the three, this practice is rare; it was traditionally practiced among Tibetans in Nepal and parts of China. The final form is group marriage (also referred to as circle marriage) this is the act of multiple women and men forming a single family. All members of the marriage share parental duties of any children they may have or will be created within their circle. Many practitioners feel that they are misunderstood and misjudged and feel that a monogamous relationship is ultimately impossible to maintain and that polygamy is a culture that is honest and upfront with each other. Amy Kaufman believes that â€Å"The most prevalent objection to polygamy is that it demeans women†. (Kaufman, 2005) It is also argued to be another form of slavery where children are at risk every day because in many cases they are conditioned to embrace a life of servitude. In any event, Polygamy still exists and is practiced around the world. All though there aren’t many cases surrounding polygamy it is a severely controversial topic. In the United States it is difficult to prove that polygamy is of existence. Even though polygamy is considered a crime, Individuals are rarely charged because it is extremely difficult to encourage polygamist or ex polygamist to come forth. Many of them are scared of being barred from their community or even prosecuted for admitting that they’ve partaken in polygamy. Unfortunately, without any choices of their own, children are born in to polygamy and the mental damaged is already done. They see nothing wrong with underage marriage, pregnancy and incest. There are several controversies surrounding this topic one of which is organized under aged marriages. In the case of the State of Utah vs. Holm’s Suzie Stubbs was married to her husband Rodney H. Holm in 1986. Holms a member of the fundamentalist church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints participated in a marriage ceremony (while still married to his first wife) with 16-year old Ruth Stubbs. Ruth claimed that she was forced into marrying her sister’s husband.Suzie Stubbs was later arrested; all though she wasn’t charged for polygamy she was charged with abetting bigamy and illegal sex. One of the largest custody cases in the United States history was the Texas polygamist custody case. It initiated with a 16-year old girl repeatedly calling an abuse hotline, claiming to be beaten and forced to become a â€Å"spiritual wife† to an adult man. Acting on her calls Texas Child welfare services removed all 439 (ranging in ages from infants to teenagers, and teenage mothers) children from the Yearning for Zion Ranch. The children were placed in foster care until the state Supreme Court ruled. It was later detected that the phone calls were fake. The children were later returned to the ranch. Arguably one of the most controversial polygamy cases in the United States was Warren Jeff’s. Warren Jeff was the president of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints (FLDS) from 2002- 2007. Separating themselves from mainstream Mormonism, the FLDS group decided to continue monogamy since Utah denounced Polygamy in 1890. They began building residential structures in El Dorado, Texas, Colorado City and Arizona.Unlike Islamic belief, In Africa women are not given the authority to decide whether they’re husbands can have multiple wives. In Africa, polygamy is used to show a man’s wealth and it is also utilized to display a man’s virility and need for sexual satisfaction. Men can also accumulate wives as a result through inheritance. In the unfortunate event of a husband’s passing his brother would take over his household which includes his wife. In instances where there are multiple wives, they would be distributed among the remaining brothers. There is a lot of resentment between the wives. With hopes to eliminate one another many of the wives performed witch craft on each other. The children are put against each other, and in some severe cases, are encouraged to kill their father with the hopes of inheriting his wealth and status. In ancient India, Polygamy was mainly among warrior’s castes and rich merchants, while the sages and seers were strictly monogamous or completely celibate. Although it was never a popular practice in ancient India, It was accepted for the procreation and continuation of family lineage.Polygamy in ancient India was considered a matter of personal choice. Several Hindu gods were often depicted as polygamous. It was noted that lord Krishna had 16,108 wives. It was tradition that the women in Hinduism never be left alone with males. Similar to African polygamy, in the event of her husband’s death she must marry her husband’s brother. The Hindu law books later made provisions on polygamy. Present day Hindus consider both polygamy and polyandry archaic and inadequate and no longer practice the belief. In conclusion, whether your views on polygamy are positive or negative, it appears to be a lifestyle that will always exist. Polygamy is a culture that is practiced globally. Initially the reasoning was solely for procreation. It has later become a religious tenet, and a matter of choice. It is arguably compared and associated with gay and lesbian marriage rights. Many polygamists feel that they are being stripped from their right to live freely. However if â€Å"living freely† involves sexual assaulting minors, and secluding their young from civilization, then maybe polygamy should stay illegal in the United States.

Perverse incentives Essays - Motivation, Disincentive,

Perverse Incentives 1)A: A company pays the workers for how many cars they can produce. Instead the workers made little toy cars to produce more to get paid a large sum of money. B: Any system of performance-related pay for corporate executives can induce unacceptable risk-taking, unless there are penalties for poor performance C: Government rebates for low gas consumption vehicles encourage people to buy those vehicles. People who own low gas consumption vehicles find that the cost of driving their cars has gone down, since the cars require less gas, and hence they will want to drive their cars more often. This could result in an increase in total gas consumption. D: No Child Left Behind Act-type laws require schools to show smooth improvement in their students' test scores. Thus, schools may benefit from having poorer performance one year in order to show 'improvement' the next. Alternatively, where tests are given near the end of high school, schools may benefit from not making efforts to discourage lower-achieving students from dropping out before these students are old enough to take the tests. 2) Disincentive: something that discourages or deters; deterrent: High interest rates and government regulations are disincentives to investment. A: The stock market crash B: Occupational Injury Pay Supplements: Many firms pay supplemental benefits to make up the difference between workers compensation benefits and regular earnings. How to get an Order of Protection

How to get an Order of Protection What do you do when you feel unsafe with someone in your family or household? Contacting law enforcement and getting an order of protection may be for you.   The Facts An order of protection (also called a restraining order) is an official legal document, signed by a judge, that is filed against a current or former family member or household member or other similar relationship. The order forces that individual to keep at a distance and is intended to prevent his or her abusive behavior toward you. Enforceable in court, it can be drafted to meet your specific needs as they apply to your situation. How It Works An order of protection can require the abuser to stay away from you and limit other forms of access; it can prevent the abuser from contacting you by phone, cell phone text messages, email, mail, fax, or third parties. It can force the abuser to move out of your home, give you exclusive use of your car, and award you temporary custody of your children along with child support, spousal support, and the continuation of insurance coverage. If the order of protection is violated by the abuser- if he or she visits you at home, in the workplace, or anywhere else or makes phone calls, sends emails, or attempts to contact you- the abuser can be arrested and placed in jail. How to Obtain One To get an order of protection, you have several options. You can contact the states or district attorney or inform the police that you wish to apply for an order of protection. You can also go to the county in which you or your abuser resides, and ask the court clerk for Order of Protection forms, which must be filled out. After the paperwork is filed, a hearing date will be set (typically within 14 days) and you will be required to appear in court on that day. The hearing may take place either in family court or criminal court. The judge will ask you to prove that you have experienced abuse or been threatened with violence. Witnesses, police reports, hospital and physician reports, and evidence of physical abuse or assault are often necessary to convince the judge to issue an order of protection. Physical evidence of abuse such as injuries caused by abuse or photos that show past injuries, property damage, or objects used in the assault will help make your case. How It Protects You The order of protection provides you an opportunity to define your safety needs. If children are involved, you can request custody and restrictions on visitation or no contact orders. Whenever the abuser violates the terms of the order of protection, you should call the police. Once you obtain one, it is imperative that you make multiple copies of the document. It is important that you carry a copy of your order protection at all times, particularly if you have children and there are custody and visitation limitations. Financial Reporting and Analysis IBM Assignment

Financial Reporting and Analysis IBM - Assignment Example The management of International Business Machines also decided to narrow down their advertising agencies to one. This minimized cost and maximized the resources of the company hence an effective advertisement which led to increase in sale of IBM products therefore increasing profits. The performance of the organization led to increase in price of shares which resulted to increase in return of equity and increase on number of investors (Garr, 2000). Revenue increased in the year nineteen ninety eight by four percent and declined in the following year by fifteen percent. Growth in revenue of a company indicates efficiency in marketing and advertisement strategies. It is also an indication of increase in market share of products of the firm (Hill & Jones, 2012). This can be caused by expansion in operations of the firm and diversification of its products. In the following year, there was a decline in revenue of the organization. The company reaching its maturity might have caused this and revenue started declining. In addition, the consumers of the company product might have changed preference for the product. This could be caused by an emergence of a similar product or reduction of price of the same product through rivals of the company. The decline in revenue could also be caused by changes in the economic conditions such as inflation. This would reduce sales which in turn force prices of goods up leading to decline in sales he nce decrease in revenue. Changes in technology could largely affect the revenue of the organization. The firm did not change to technology as expected by its customers hence led to decrease in revenue (Hill & Jones, 2012). Gross margins on the other hand are profits made after the company deducts all the costs or expenses made on sales which are referred to as gross sales. The gross margins have increased throughout the years for IBM Company as indicated in its
